What’s The Best Platform For Your Business? Good Question

There is nothing I love more than list articles. Right?

Chances are you agreed because articles that contain lists, like “Top 10 ways to peel a banana!” are much more likely to get traffic than articles without lists like “Peel a banana this way”.

So when I saw “The 8 Best Social Media Platforms to Market Your Business in 2021” I was very excited because I fully expected to learn something.

I’m not sure why i expected to learn something from what was clearly click-bait. But hey, I always work from the best intentions and assume everyone else does too.

In this particular case, however, while the author does a good job of showing us the audience size and engagement levels for the top performing social media networks they completely miss the point of effectively using social media: it must be natural.

For all the hype Reddit is a very tricky platform for the average business to utilize for organic marketing purposes. Sure, you can run ads on the site, for whatever that might be worth, but if you want the viral fame and fortune some have gotten from their 15 minutes of fame on Reddit you’ll need to be a specific type of business dealing in a specific type of information.

Otherwise you’ll look like just another poser.

So rather than following the numbers use your head and think the strengths of each platform and whether or not your brand is in a good position to take advantage of those strengths.

For example, if your brand doesn’t produce many original images maybe Instagram is not a good match for your marketing strategy.

A little common sense can go a long way when it comes to getting the most out of your advertising dollars.
